We continue our LiPo battery series
with part three in this month’s
issue. Many readers are sharing their
feedback and comments.
William L. Elkins: I have been
in RC modeling for approximately
35 years and in the last two years I
have tried electrics with slow going
success, until now! “LiPO Battery
Basics” in the July issue of MA was
just what I needed. The way this was
written made it so clear that I think I
finally got it. I’m printing this off and
keeping it with me! Thank you!
Charlie K: Most common
measurement devices are not very
accurate at low voltages. … having
a measuring device that over reads
slightly is much safer than one that
under reads. It’s also of note that
many of the four-button chargers do
not specify accuracy of the readout.
Merimac: I went shopping for
a Class D fire extinguisher to stop
LiPo fires—too expensive for me.
Sand is much, much cheaper. I now
have a bucket of sand ($3) nearby
ready to go. I also have a small fire
extinguisher nearby to stop any fires
caused by the LiPo. Great article!
