criteria to modify
your engine. It is
illegal to modify
if the engine
configuration is required to be stock.
For example, Section 16. 2. 2 of Event
424 “Sport Quickie” rules and the
subsection titled “Engine; Maximum
displacement” reads “0.403 cubic inches.”
The following line, “Configuration,” reads
“Stock, commercially available, front
intake, side-exhaust.” Therefore, it would
be illegal to change the displacement of
an engine to 0.403 because this would
violate the stock, unmodified rule.

Proud Bird Wing Fairing Repaint
I recently noticed that the wing
fairings on my Great Planes Proud
Bird EF1 had yellowed. After a quick
consultation with Shane Elbert, here are
the steps I took to restore the finish:
1. Remove the canopy and cowling.
2. Mask the wing fairings with 3M
3. Sand the wing fairings with 0000
4. Wipe the surfaces down with
rubbing alcohol and let them dry.
5. Spray a light dust coat with Top
Flite LustreKote-brand spray paint, Jet
6. Spray a final gloss coat and let it dry.
7. Replace the cowling and canopy.
Until next time, race hard and have
