Wing Mounting
The wing mounting uses a tube, which
is a strong and simple system. Most
wing tube mounting systems use bolts
through the fuselage and slide into the
wing root to lock the wing in place. The
problem I had was that with the finished
interior, the “locking” bolts were not
accessible.
Instead, I built a metal tab that
extends from the fuselage side into the
wing root, and a 4-40 bolt comes up
from the bottom of the wing, through
the tab, and into a blind nut to lock the
wing in place. The bolt head is recessed
into a stub of 1/4-inch tube.
Wing Hatches
The access hatches for the flap and
aileron servos were purchased from J&B
Access Panels and mounted flush with
the skin. The simulated maintenance
access hatches were created using
