official flights. The best flight score of
the two official flights will be used to
calculate your final score.
The static judging is completed first,
so when you arrive at the flying site,
get the model ready with the static
propeller(s) mounted and remove any
items such as the leadout guide.
As soon as the static judging is
complete, prepare to fly, which means
installing the flight propeller and the
flying lines. If you are flying with a glow
engine, test-run the motor in the pit area
so that when you get to the flying circle,
you are ready to go. You are only allowed
a limited number of minutes to become
airborne once you are in the flying circle.
After you complete your first official
flight, the CD will post your static score
and your first flight score—you will be
able to see how your flight compares
with others. Look at the other scores
in the same category and decide if you
want to try to improve your flight score.
In some cases, you might choose to only
fly once, or fly again to see if you can
improve the flight score.
The three-day Nats marathon has the
same number of possible points for all
of the events, but the flying points are
calculated differently. The first day of
the Nats is for the static judging, so it’s
